Head of Innovation 4.0, Expert in AI
François-Alexandre holds a master’s degree in computer science from Université Laval and a master’s degree in industrial relations from Université de Montréal. He brings solid expertise in applied research and software development. Before joining Baseline, he contributed to artificial intelligence projects at Ubisoft Montréal as well as in the wood products industry with the FORAC Research Consortium. A published author in AI, he has received prestigious distinctions, including a research grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). While he has explored various fields, his core expertise and interests focus on advanced techniques in combinatorial optimization, industrial process control, and the development of recommendation systems.
Among his many accomplishments, he developed an intelligent solution for real-time control of lumber finishing lines in sawmills—a project involving process mapping and system modelling. He also worked on the tactical and operational optimization of off-road (mining) vehicle fleets, aiming to reduce travel distances, ensure proper resource allocation, and minimize productivity losses due to delays. His expertise also extends to recommendation systems, particularly in the personalization of marketing campaigns and promotional content.
On a personal note, François-Alexandre is passionate about travel, climbing, diving, and outdoor adventures, passions he looks forward to sharing with his twins.
